Hi Dr T. I have seen books on diets for reversing PCOS. Is PCOS reversible? And do you feel women with this are at higher risk for miscarriage? Thank You

PCOS is a partially genetic syndrome resulting from and causing a hormonal imbalance to include a greater estrogen to progesterone ratio and higher circulating
testosterone. Often this is associated with pre-diabetes, obesity, high blood pressure, elevated cholesterol and triglycerides. The ovaries are actually
victims of this imbalance, i.e. even if they are removed, the medical risks still apply. Reproductive consequences include ovulation dysfunction with abnormal
bleeding, infertility, and miscarriage (35-50%). While it is not reversible, close monitoring by your physician and a healthy body mass index will reduce the
medical risks.
